Our Story
The Bryson Brothers: Family, Purpose, and Community
Music has always been at the center of the Bryson family's story. From childhood, brothers Jermaine, Travien, and Damon Bryson shared a passion for rhythm, performance, and creative expression that led each of them down unique musical paths.
They were raised in a deeply musical family where church served as their first classroom. Some of their earliest memories were spent in their grandfather's back room, pretending to play instruments for hours and inventing bands. What began as childhood play became the foundation of lifelong careers in music and education.
Jermaine began on trumpet before finding his voice on trombone, and has performed with Kool & the Gang since 2013. Damon—known professionally as "Tuba Gooding Jr."—became a world-renowned sousaphone player with The Roots. Travien joined his passion for music with education, co-founding Food bEatz and bringing culturally responsive drumming programs to thousands of Philadelphia children.
As their community impact expanded, the brothers saw the need for broader pathways into arts education, mentorship, and workforce development. That vision created the Flow Foundation—partnering with schools, community organizations, agencies, and professional musicians to expand access to instruction, workshops, performances, internships, and artist development.
Today their legacy is rooted in family, faith, service, and community empowerment—proof that music can inspire generations and create opportunity far beyond the stage.

Jermaine Bryson
Trombonist · Musical Director · Artist · Educator
Jermaine Bryson is a distinguished trombonist, artist, and musical innovator whose journey began at age four with the trumpet. Affectionately known as the "Human Jukebox," his natural ability to absorb and interpret music became the foundation of a remarkable career—and of the musical identity known as "Husky Bruiser."
With a sound rooted in soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, gospel, and contemporary music, he is a versatile and commanding performer. A graduate of Temple University and New Jersey City University, where he earned his master's degree, Jermaine has built a career defined by excellence and versatility.
He has shared the stage with The Roots, Jay-Z, Kindred the Family Soul, Public Enemy, Musiq Soulchild, Mos Def, Q-Tip, Isaac Hayes, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, Chuck Brown, Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael McDonald, Eddie Levert, Steve Turre, and Wyclef Jean, and currently serves as trombonist for Kool & The Gang.
His creative vision led to Mozaic Flow, his own musical platform. Featured on numerous albums and recognized for performances including the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Jermaine credits God and family, and remains committed to using his gifts to inspire music lovers around the world.
Travien Bryson
Educator · Drummer · Mentor · Community Leader
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Travien Bryson is a dedicated educator, musician, mentor, and community leader committed to making a lasting impact through education and the arts. He attended West Chester University—where he joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and competed nationally on the fraternity's step team—before transferring to Cheyney University and earning a B.S. in Elementary Education.
He went on to earn a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, with a career in the School District of Philadelphia that includes service at Charles Carroll High School. In 2018 he joined Laura H. Carnell School as a fifth-grade Math and Science teacher, earning the prestigious 2022 Lindback Award for Distinguished Teachers.

A lifelong drummer and music educator, Travien serves as an administrator for Philadelphia's legendary Clef Club, coaches the drumline at Laura H. Carnell School, and performs with Mozaic Flow alongside his brother—creating opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and discover their potential.
Damon Bryson
Sousaphone Player · Recording Artist · Philanthropist
Damon Bryson is a professional musician, sousaphone player, and Philadelphia native with more than 30 years of experience in the music industry. A graduate of Charles Y. Audenried High School in Philadelphia, Damon has built an extraordinary career through his passion, dedication, and love for music.
As a member of the legendary The Roots, Damon has traveled and performed around the world, bringing his unique sound and energy to stages across the globe. His career has also included performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, as well as contributing his musical talents to recordings and albums for various artists.
Throughout his journey, Damon has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the most respected artists and musicians in the entertainment industry. His experiences—from growing up in Philadelphia to touring internationally—have given him a deep appreciation for the opportunities that music can provide.
Today, Damon is committed to giving back and using his experience to make a difference in the lives of others. Through his nonprofit organization, his mission is to inspire and encourage young people through music, helping them recognize their talents, develop confidence, and understand that their gifts can take them places they may have never imagined.
Damon’s story is a testament to where dedication, perseverance, and a love for music can lead, and he hopes to use his journey to help open doors for the next generation.
